The duties and responsibilities of the Office of Supervisor of Elections requires a dedicated and talented staff who work year-round to ensure all elections are conducted successfully. Although, federal and state elections occur on a predicted cycle, local elections, school elections, community elections, and unpredictable special elections occur year-round. In addition, election laws and procedures constantly change, technology evolves, equipment is updated, and candidate qualifying and financial reporting occurs throughout the year. The elections office conducts registration drives, prepares supplies, attends training seminars and conferences, recruits and trains poll workers, conducts early voting periods, prepares and processes mail ballots, and maintains polling places and early voting sites for 21 precincts. Citizens register to vote or make updates to their registration records everyday, and the elections staff processes those records and sends any necessary correspondence. For more information about what the elections office does, please see the Duties & Responsibilities page.
The Walton County Supervisor of Elections Office Staff takes regular opportunities to build their skills and be better prepared to serve the voters. Bobby Beasley and his staff frequently participate in continuing education classes through various means. Bobby Beasley is a state certified Supervisor of Elections and has completed all three levels of the Florida Certified Elections Professional certification courses to become a Master Florida Certified Elections Professional (MFCEP). In addition, Ryan Messer and LaJuana Rinker have also completed all three levels to become Master Florida Certified Elections Professionals (MFCEP).
In addition to the regular elections staff, the elections office employs over 200 additional temporary employees during an election period. We often call these employees Poll Workers. These employees are part of the Election Team and elections could not be conducted without them. These temporary employees are tasked with multiple duties that range anywhere from working in the office, working in an early voting site, delivering supplies and equipment, or working on Election Day at a polling place. If you are interested in being part of the Elections Team, please complete the Poll Worker Application. Thank you.
